About ProjectArt

 

ProjectArt’s tuition-free classes run October-June and materials are provided for all students ages 4-18. Local, professional artists teach classes following the National Arts Education Association standards to create fun and imaginative arts experiences every week! Registration is required in advance and space is limited.

  

 

Meet ProjectArt Teaching Artist: Chemin Hsiao


Chemin Hsiao (Taiwan) is a visual artist based in Queens & Brooklyn. In 2021, his artist banners proposal "Dandelions Know" was selected as the winner for the Noguchi Museum to raise awareness to the anti-Asian violence. He was also a recipient of the New Work Grant & ArtSite Public Art Commissioning from Queens Council on the Arts. He participated in the Immigrant Artist Program at the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2022 as a mentor. His artworks were exhibited at various venues such as the Walter

Wickiser Gallery, SFA Projects, and Queens Botanical Garden. He has completed commissioned public murals for the Queens community including Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, and Flushing. Hsiao has taught in-person and virtual visual arts workshops to

students of all ages for organizations such as the Met Museum, the Noguchi Museum, Queens Museum, Queens Botanical Garden, ProjectArt, Abrons Arts Center, and senior centers via SU-CASA program.
