About ProjectArt

ProjectArt’s free classes run from September - May. Materials are provided for all students ages 4-18. Local, professional artists teach classes aligned with the National Arts Education Association standards and are informed by the teaching artist's personal artistic practice. ProjectArt classes are fun, imaginative and cultivate a love of learning.

Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year. Registration is required in advance, and space is limited.

Current Project: Making a Scene: Watercolor Experiments and Collage

We explore liquid watercolors, mixing colors and experimenting with different techniques to create textures. With these swatches of colors and textures, we will create collages and learn basic composition—background and foreground. Library books will introduce the idea of primary and secondary colors. We will see how artists like Henri Matisse and Eric Carle make pictures with collage. Lunar New Year is around the corner, so we will make art for the Year of the Snake.

Note to families: Paint may stain clothes. Please have students dress accordingly.
