Description

La'u Samoa High School Competition 2026

UTOPIA Washington is proud to present:

ALA MAI 2026

Ala Mai is excited to announce our return to Lau Samoa competition, set to take place in May 2026. This event holds significant cultural and academic importance for all high school participants, and we are thrilled to be joining forces with the youth of Seattle, Auburn, and Kent School districts to celebrate and honor our Pacific heritage. As a family-centered group, Ala Mai is committed to the academic and cultural revitalization of Pacific Islander youth in the diaspora. We believe that academic excellence and cultural revitalization go hand in hand in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

The Lau Samoa competition provides a unique opportunity to showcase the talents of our youth in both academic and cultural domains, and we are proud to be guiding them on this journey. In preparation for the event, we will be facilitating weekly practices that focus on a balanced approach—developing not only cultural skills such as traditional dance, music, and language but also academic strategies that promote success in school and beyond.

Through these sessions, we aim to foster a sense of identity, confidence, and achievement, empowering our youth to excel in both their cultural expression and academic pursuits. At Ala Mai, we are deeply invested in the growth and success of our community's young people. As we prepare for the Lau Samoa competition, we look forward to celebrating the strength, creativity, and academic accomplishments of our youth, united in our shared values of cultural pride, academic excellence, and community empowerment. This project is exclusively for high school students in Kent and Auburn area.
