Project Literacy: After-School Literacy Program (2nd -4th Grade)

Description

We are pleased to announce the launch of "Project Literacy," a collaborative effort between Parkridge Community Center and The Family Learning Institute (FLI) aimed at providing high-quality academic support for elementary-age students (grades 2nd through 5th) and middle schoolers. The program, facilitated by The Family Learning Institute, will commence with refreshments before educational sessions. Registration for this limited opportunity will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with each group accommodating a maximum of 20 students.

As you may be aware, the United States is facing a literacy epidemic, and our community is no exception. Our objective is to ensure that students in our community can effectively learn, comprehend, and communicate by meeting grade-level literacy expectations. Below, you will find a concise overview of the programs.

Primary Students (Grades 2-4):

Wednesdays, 5:00 to 6:45 pm, from October 8, 2025, to May 27, 2026

Curriculum: Phonics, literacy mastery, and related skills.

Secondary Students (Grades 5-7):

Tuesdays, 4:30 to 6:30 pm, from October 7, 2025, to May 26, 2026

Curriculum: Reading, vocabulary-building, study skills, and writing practice.
