About

NextGen Academy begins with three simple commitments: your child will love school, learn twice as fast as in traditional schools in two hours a day, and develop real-world skills by building things with their hands.

At NextGen Academy, we believe learning happens when students make things with their hands, not just absorb information with their minds.

We're not a traditional school. We're a place where students design and build game controllers from scratch, where they discover programming by tapping into their passions and building their own games. This is learning through doing, and it changes everything.

The NextGen Academy Approach

Our school day is built around two core components: mastery-based academics and hands-on workshops.

In the morning, students work through rigorous academic content at their own pace. No lectures. No waiting for the slowest student or rushing past the fastest. Every student gets exactly what they need, when they need it. They master concepts deeply before moving forward, building a foundation that actually sticks.

But here's what makes NextGen Academy different: we don't stop at academics.

Workshops: Where Real Learning Happens

Every afternoon, students dive into workshops that teach them how to build, create, solve problems, and think like makers. These are the heart of what we do.

In our workshops, students:

• Build real products — mechanical keyboards, hand-wired controllers, 3D-printed solutions to real-world problems

• Learn through failure — the best way to develop grit is to struggle with something hard, fail, iterate, and eventually succeed

• Develop critical life skills — financial literacy, public speaking, goal-setting, critical thinking, and more

The Role of Guides

At NextGen Academy, we call our teachers "guides" because that's what they actually do. They don't stand at the front of the room delivering lectures. They work one-on-one with students, coaching them through challenges, celebrating breakthroughs, and pushing them to go further than they thought possible.

Our guides combine high expectations with deep care, creating an environment where students feel both challenged and supported. It's this relationship between guides and students that makes NextGen Academy special.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Walk into a NextGen Academy workshop and you'll see:

• A student carefully wiring switches onto a custom keyboard PCB

• Another student utilizing AI to debug code, trying to get their keyboard to register key presses

• Students helping each other troubleshoot, sharing what they've learned

This is what learning looks like when it's real, when it's hands-on, when it matters.

Why This Matters

Most schools teach students to be good at school. We teach students to be good at life.

The skills our students develop — problem-solving, resilience, creative thinking, collaboration, technical competence — are skills that matter in the real world. They lead to confidence, agency, and the belief that "I can figure this out."

Our students leave NextGen Academy knowing they can tackle hard problems, build things that didn't exist before, and persist through challenges.

This is NextGen Academy. Learning by doing. Building real skills. Developing grit. Growing creators and leaders, not just students.

Ask yourself: what could your child build at NextGen Academy?
